At the edge of a remote winter village, Margaret wakes to an unexpected sight: two trembling bear cubs pressed against her window at dawn. Startled, she follows their desperate cries through deep snow and biting wind. Soon, she discovers the reason for their distress—a massive mother bear trapped on a cliffside, caught in an old snare.
Shaken, Margaret rushes back to the village and seeks help from her closest companion, William. Together they set out on a harsh, storm-beaten journey and manage to free the injured bear before returning home, exhausted but relieved.
Later, as Margaret prepares her daily batch of cheese, the boiling milk spills and burns her hand. Unable to finish the work, she turns once again to William. Though he knows bread, not cheese, he steps in without hesitation—baking 10 to 15 loaves so they can still travel to the market and earn their day’s income.
After selling the bread in the freezing village bazaar, the two return home—only to hear the sorrowful cry of the mother bear outside. They follow her through the night snow and discover a chilling sight: the cubs surrounded by wolves. The mother bear turns to Margaret and William for help.
The episode ends at this moment of tension—an unexpected plea, a dangerous standoff, and a bond between humans and nature deepened by survival.
