Greetings folks! CSX has just about wrapped up their 2024-25 maintenance season in Florida, and I managed to capture a few of their work related movements throughout that time. Interestingly, two of them would have a new creation from Wabtec as the power, the new ET23DCM or SD23T4 locomotive.
The rebuilt locomotives are a cross-breed of EMD and General Electric (Wabtec) parts, that ultimately create a Tier 4 compliant, 2,350 horsepower powerhouse that gives the aged ‘SD40-2’ another shot at life. We’ll discuss them in fair detail in this video.
