In Night 8 of The Making of an Ummah, we unpack a phrase Allah uses to describe the believers:
وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ
They follow the light that was sent down with him.
Why does Allah describe the Quran as “light”? Light reveals reality. Light exposes. Light gives direction. Without it, we do not walk with caution, we walk blindly.
We also reflect on the Qur’anic contrast:
يخرجهم من الظلمات الى النور
Darknesses are many, the light is one. Confusions multiply, truth remains one.
Following the Quran means letting it correct us and shape our lives. It calls us to obedience, discipline, and ethical transformation.
Finally, we discuss a practical pathway to access the light properly: building a personal relationship with the Book of Allah through reliable translations, trusted tafsir, structured Islamic sciences, and guidance from qualified scholars.
May Allah make us people of light and people of the Quran.
