Kushiage is a Japanese dish of deep fried skewered meat and vegetables. It is known to have started in Shinsekai area of Osaka between end of Taishou era and beginning of Showa era.
Kushiage is “Inexpensive, delicious, prepared fast” bite size dish an loved among many people. It is a soul food for people in Osaka. It is dipped in a stainless pot of thinner sauce before eating. As the sauce pot is shared among other customers, reinserting food again after a bite is considered bad manners and are prohibited in most restaurants.
Main ingredients used in kushiage include, meat, vegetables, mochi and potato. All these ingredients have nutrients, such as protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates. In recent times, they have cheese kushiage, which is very popular among young adults. But since kushiage is a fried food, over consumption is not recommended.
