About my Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Course:
Whether you're a novice, an advanced practitioner, or a seasoned yoga teacher, I'm excited to share my Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Course with you. This course is designed to be a thorough journey through the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, as I learnt it in India in the mid-1980's and continued to practice it for the next 40 years. This course is tailored to meet you exactly where you are in your yoga journey.
Research shows that 62% of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practitioners have suffered a musculoskeletal injury lasting more than a month, with the most common injuries occurring in the hips, hamstrings, knees, and lower back. As a practicing physiotherapist and experienced yoga teacher, I have created a unique approach to traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for the modern body that helps to eliminate the risk of these common injuries.
In this course, I provide detailed instructions on how to get the most out of each posture in the primary Ashtanga sequence, including tips for advanced practices and modifications and adaptations for beginners and those with musculoskeletal injuries or medical conditions. I'll guide you through the traditional Ashtanga yoga vinyasas safely and effectively and show you how to perform simple versions of each posture and movement that are safe but very effective.
One of my goals is to make the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga first series accessible to everyone, regardless of their current level or physical or physiological limitations. I also provide an in-depth discussion and instruction on breath control and breathing in each posture, a crucial aspect of Ashtanga yoga.
