If you haven’t watched last week’s video yet, go watch that first • No Steering. Then No Engine. Then No Ancho...
If you already have, welcome back to part 2 where I tow that boat to the mechanic he was trying to get to that day…and if you haven't watched it yet. Why are you still here? Go watch it now 😂 Anyways, this is a pretty standard dock to dock tow. It’s a little breezy today, but for this size boat and running the best handling boat in the fleet, this shouldn’t be a problem. The one tricky part might be getting out of here and navigating a sandbar at the destination, because this boat draws 3.5ft, and while the tide is coming in, the wind is pushing water out of the bay, causing a lower tide than expected.

Hey, you. Yeah, you. Are you seriously here without watching Part 1 first? Bold strategy. Truly. That's like walking into a movie theater halfway through a film, sitting down, and asking the person next to you "wait, who's the bad guy?" The link is right here: • No Steering. Then No Engine. Then No Ancho... — go watch it. We'll wait. We're not going anywhere. Literally. We're on a boat.
...
OKAY. Welcome back, returning champions. You've done the homework, you've earned your seat, and now we get to close the loop on one of the most dramatic dock-to-dock tows in recent memory. Well. "Dramatic" is a strong word. It's mostly just water and mild inconveniences. But stick with me.
So here's the situation: we've got a boat that broke down last week trying to get to a mechanic. The mechanic is still waiting. The boat is still broken. And I, a professional with access to what I will humbly describe as the finest handling vessel in the entire fleet, have been called upon to reunite these two star-crossed lovers.
Simple, right? Dock to dock. Bread and butter. I've done this a thousand times.
Except — and here's where the universe decided to have a little fun at my expense — it's a touch breezy today. Not "battening down the hatches" breezy, but definitely "your hat is gone forever" breezy. Fine. Manageable.
Oh, also the boat we're towing draws 3.5 feet. THREE AND A HALF FEET. And there's a sandbar at the destination that is, shall we say, aggressively present. Now normally, we'd rely on the tide coming in to give us a little extra cushion. The tide IS, technically, coming in. However — and this is my favorite part — the wind is blowing hard enough OUT of the bay that it's physically pushing the water back out, canceling out the incoming tide like it's deleting a text before sending it.
So we have: a big boat, a shallow sandbar, a rising tide that the wind has personally decided to sabotage, and me, caffeinated and optimistic.
What could go wrong?
