Continuing our journey with Japan Airlines, we embarked on our return flight from Manila to Tokyo aboard one of JAL's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, fitted with the JAL Sky Suite Business Class seats. With a comfortable journey ahead spanning approximately 4 hours, we anticipated another seamless experience with JAL's top-notch service.

True to our expectations, the service from the crew was exceptional, maintaining the high standard we've come to associate with JAL. The attentive flight attendants working our aisle were proactive in ensuring our comfort, promptly refilling our beverages and attending to our needs with poise and efficiency. Moreover, the catering surpassed expectations, with delectable offerings presented with finesse by the crew, further enhancing the overall in-flight experience.

Prior to boarding, we had the opportunity to experience the JAL Sakura Lounge in Manila, which pleasantly surprised us with its inviting ambiance and ample seating options. The hot food buffet is also back on offer after a brief hiatus during the pandemic.

What I liked:

The Catering: Undoubtedly, the catering emerged as the highlight of the flight. From presentation to taste, the meals exuded freshness and culinary finesse, elevating the onboard dining experience.

The Friendly Service: The hallmark of Japanese hospitality was vividly displayed through the warmth and efficiency of the crew. Their charming demeanor coupled with their attentive service truly enhanced the journey.

What I didn’t like:

No Personal Air Nozzles: The absence of personal air nozzles was a minor inconvenience, although the cabin temperature remained adequately cool throughout the flight.

The Limited IFE Content: While the in-flight entertainment interface was user-friendly, the content selection felt somewhat restricted compared to other airlines, leaving room for improvement in this aspect.

It’s fine, I guess...

The JAL Sakura Lounge in Manila: The Sakura Lounge maintained its appeal as one of the better lounges in MNL for a comfortable pre-flight retreat. The hot food buffet and bar was also a welcome sight, since its disappearance during the pandemic.

The seats: The JAL Sky Suite seats in business class provided a comfortable yet slightly narrow layout, mitigated by the convenience of lie-flat functionality and direct aisle access for all passengers.

The Amenities: While JAL didn't provide traditional business class amenity kits for regional flights, the assortment of amenities available onboard, coupled with the thoughtful provisions in the lavatories, ensured a comfortable journey for passengers.

Bottom Line:

In conclusion, Japan Airlines once again delivered a commendable performance, reaffirming its reputation for reliability and superior service. While the JAL suite seats may not boast the latest innovations, their comfort was sufficient for the duration of the flight, complemented by exemplary hospitality and gourmet dining options. JAL may not strive for extravagance like some of its counterparts, but its commitment to a solid business class experience is undeniable. Kudos to JAL for another memorable flight, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next journey with them!
