The whole family’s been battling a cold the past few days. So far, I’ve managed to dodge the obvious symptoms — but apparently, my exercise induced asthma didn’t get the memo.
How do I know it’s back? Heavy legs, that lovely “suffocating-under-water” feeling during high efforts, and a heart rate that takes its sweet time to recover between efforts and decides to stay unusually high mid-race. Not ideal.
What’s strange is that the last three races in May were smooth sailing — no asthma issues at all. So today felt like a step backward. Our theory? I’ve probably already caught whatever virus is making the rounds at home… it’s just choosing to show itself via the lungs first. Thanks, immune system.
On the bright side, it was great to finally race with Max again (P2 today – nice work!).
Hopefully, the next time comes sooner than U17.1 😉
