Follow me on a 6 km circular hike through an ancient beech forest in Thuringia, Germany, which takes about 2 hours.
The trail features interactive nature stations where children can experience the forest with all their senses, including viewing and listening tubes, Germany's “smallest treetop path,” and a green outdoor classroom.
The trail is mostly on natural terrain and is not barrier-free—sturdy footwear is essential, especially in wet conditions.
Visitors pass through “wilderness gates” that symbolize the future development of the forest without human intervention.
