Like Icarus seducing the sun

It's a horrible insinuation but...

You know just which way the wind is blowing
Premeditated innocence sheds an intoxicating smell,
Choices surround you in every offer of comfort they sell
Heartaches to hold and ornaments of gold...
to adorn your seemingly well fed empty shell,
Pretense and assumption are virtues best handled with care,
Invitations to a thief, the machinations of a sycophant,
Sleeping with the enemy will never end well ;

You're always manipulating
An endless need for satiation,
A never ending monolog of gaslighting sedation,
Pride in the avarice of all your trials and tribulations,
Always championing your own ascending star
And never self depreciating,
It's as clear as the colors of your immaculate presentation
In the aura of a perfect form of majestic creation,
I could never be worthy of your truth,
The self anointed holiness of you,
In the end I must admit that to pretend I could deliver
All the laurel leaves and scented sweets laid humbly at your feet
That you need to survive, to feel honored and satisfied,
It would be an exorcise in this futile pretense vanity of mine

Because now I know I could never love you...like you do ;

A perfect communication
As I watch you working the room,
I was once stunned by the backlash
Of the shock and awe conception of you,
In fleeting side glances our eyes connect, but only in truth
Feel that rush like smack hundred proof
Taste like absinthe honeydew all poisoned through and through,
Yes you remember me, but I remember you too,
Heavy realizations are so hard to swallow,
The stiches and the scars left behind
Are sometimes the only proof that the damage was done,
You were foolish and absent
In the logical understanding that you could never be the one,
So get out while you can, you're not so aware nor immune
Blind to the dazzle or deaf to the piper's tune,
And even you can play the fool ;
