Lyrics :

The truth will seldom make you feel better,
Eyes wide open can make you feel worse,
Right about the time you've figured it all out
You realize all the lies have left you so hurt,
You thought the light in their eyes could sustain you forever,
And a smile that would quench a lifetime of thirst
It was everything you wanted to leave you with no doubt
You could win in the end when you thought you were cursed ;

A comfortable blindfold never notices the changes,
Eyes wide shut afraid to move in the dark,
Something in the air like the static of a storm cloud,
The slow dull ache of a subtle sinking in your heart,
How we can fool ourselves so perfectly can be amazing,
In every tragedy we're forced to play our part,
Too many sleepless night wondering what's it all about,
Only to realize the answers will tear your soul apart ;

It felt like angry slow blades,
They cut little pieces of your world away,
Peeling back all your honest mistakes
Until only an empty and scarred core remains,
Leaving you with nothing but the emptiness you've found,

What was once the intoxicating scent
Of fairy-tales and deluded bliss,
The happy ever after lies you just couldn't resist,
All just dust and ashes falling through your fists,
Tear the petals and poison the blooms,
Every time you walk into the room
You just smell like a graveyard of dead roses now ;

I should've known the story was doomed,
The past never repeating was too good to be true,
I've never in my life seen a face without a mask
I had to die inside to see through to the truth,
You're a toxic garden cultivated for just my kind of fool,
All beautiful flowers and sweet smelling promises to soothe
Wilting away, as always, and all too soon ;
