Comprehensive studies of the Dark Ages provide significant insights into that era of Church history. The historical context of the period differs markedly from the present day, when extensive information is readily accessible. In the Bible, light symbolizes revelation and truth; however, during the Middle Ages, access to such knowledge was limited, which is reflected in the designation “Dark Ages.”

This is part 4 of a series on the Evolution of Bible Interpretation. Parts 1-3 are linked in the description, and identified the problem of apostasy in the church, identified what the early church taught, and explained what went wrong, as in the Alexandrian Takeover, the ramifications of which plunged the church into a long, dark period of Church history known as the Middle Ages, or Dark Ages, which is the focus of this study. Successive lessons will cover the Protestant Reformation, Reformed Theology today, and the Dispensational Movement.
