Iran has announced Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the country's assassinated supreme leader, as his father's successor. The appointment was confirmed by a committee of clerics in defiance of US President Donald Trump who'd earlier described him as an unacceptable leader.
With the war in the Middle East now in its second week strikes on oil depots in Tehran have left the Iranian capital blanketed in thick toxic smoke. An Iranian drone has struck a desalination plant in Bahrain threatening water supplies. Iran says it was in response to a strike on a desalination plant on Iranian soil.
