I started this project to install a region-free mod on a Japanese GameCube so it could play both Japanese and North American games. Instead, I accidently ripped the pads off the board and completely ruined the mod.
After tearing off the pads for the mod, I replaced the board with a North American board. On top of that, the disc drive stopped working, which let to replacing 10 capacitors that I wasn't planning on touching.
In this video, I show the full teardown, what went wrong during the mod, cleaning every inch of it, and how I recovered the console to get it fully working again.
