A "slide/tape" documentary of the photography by kids in three schools in Letcher County, and their teacher, photographer Wendy Ewald. Wendy went on to earn a MacArthur Award for her photography and her work teaching photography to children around the world.
This film is by Andrew Garrison. A second film titled "Portraits and Dreams," using the spelled-out word "and," was made by Elizabeth Barret of Appalshop Films, and Wendy Ewald visits with her former students 40 years later. Some of the original material from "Portraits & Dreams" is also in the later film.
