Kenny David spent his summer being a research intern for the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA.
Kenny was involved in the SURF program at Scripps, which stands for Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow. And as a fellow at Scripps, he was assigned to the Baldwin lab to work on researching cellular reprogramming.
Cell reprogramming is where you can take readily-accessibly cells like skin cells or blood cells and reprogram them into neurons or other cells, allowing you to study diseases like Alzheimers more easily without invasive procedures like taking neurons directly from a patient's brain.
