STORYLINE:
The historical Baoan Temple bell rang out in Taipei on Tuesday to mark the start of the Lunar New Year.

Visitors lit incense and held prayers as for the year ahead as they welcomed in the Year of the Horse.

The bell was struck 108 times because 108 is seen as an auspicious number in Chinese culture.

The temple was inducted into the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation in 2003.
