LEGIAN, Bali 4K Walk Around Padma Street, Garlic Lane, Melasti St. & Legian Beach Walking Tour 2026

Bali is currently experiencing a period of extreme weather. Strong winds are blowing in from the ocean, sending sand flying across the beaches. Most tourists are avoiding the beachfront for now.

Today we’re in Legian to document the situation while taking a walk through the area.

We started our walk at Padma Beach. This beach is usually quite busy in the late afternoon, but today it was noticeably quiet because of the strong winds.

From there, we left the beach and headed onto Padma Street. Walking along this road, we noticed plenty of tourists filling the restaurants and bars. It seems that dining indoors has become a safer and more comfortable option compared to sitting out on the windy beach.

Next, we continued into Sahadewa Street, better known to many visitors as Garlic Lane. The restaurants and bars along this street were also quite lively this afternoon, with tourists enjoying food and drinks despite the rough weather outside.

We then turned right onto Melasti Street. Historically, this road was used by Balinese locals during the Melasti ceremony, a purification ritual where people walk towards the sea as part of the tradition.

Melasti Street leads directly to Legian Beach, so we headed back down to the shore to see how things looked there. We walked along the beach all the way back towards Padma Beach.

Many of the small beachfront bars were closed due to the strong winds, although a few were still open despite the challenging conditions. Interestingly, some tourists didn’t seem too bothered by the gusty wind and blowing sand, continuing to relax and enjoy the beach atmosphere.

Eventually, we arrived back at our starting point at Padma Beach, where our walking tour around Legian came to an end.
