This performance is sung "nine-fold" with three repetitions of each "Kyrie" and "Christe." The final "Kyrie" is melismatic, using additional groups of notes to extend the final repetition of the "Kyrie." The "nine-fold" Kyrie is used in the Traditional Latin Mass or the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.

In the Ordinary Form of the Mass or the Novus Ordo, the "Kyrie" is sung "six-fold," without the third repetition of the "Kyrie" or "Christe."

The "Kyrie" is sung in Greek drawing from the earliest liturgies of the Catholic Church. A translation can be found here:
