Описание: On the 57th anniversary of the first ever sighting of The Mothman, Nov. 15, 2023, KULT News visited Point Pleasant, WV where it all began.

We visited the World’s Only Mothman Museum and spoke with Jeff Wamsley, the man who opened the museum in 2006 and continues to operate it to this day.

Although we didn’t encounter the Mothman on our visit, we did encounter some strange behavior at a local bank as we conducted a First Amendment audit in town. We also met a couple of our viewers who heard the police chatter about our visit on their scanners.

Would local police recognize our right to take photos and video in public or would we have to call upon The Mothman to, once again, bring his wrath on this sleepy town of 4,031 residents?

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
