The Midwest Central Railroad of Mount Pleasant, IA, operates a narrow gauge steam railroad in conjunction with the annual Old Threshers Reunion. Since 1960, this 36" gauge steam operation operates a variety of locomotives around a 1.25 mile loop of track.

Henschel-built 1951. This German tank engine arrived at Midwest Central in 1982, and operated until 2011.
3:43 West Side Lumber 3-Truck Shay 9
Lima-built 1923, arrived at MCRR in 1966. One of the largest narrow gauge Shays built. This Shay from California was leased to Georgetown Loop for much of the 2010s, arrived back in Iowa in 2019.
6:46 Georgetown Loop 2-6-2 12
Built by Baldwin in 1928 for the Kahului Railroad Company in Hawaii. Operated at the Georgetown Loop for 2005 to 2012, leased to MCRR in exchange for Shay 9. It was brought back to Colorado in 2019.
11:40 Surrey, Sussex & Southampton 2-6-0 6
Baldwin-built 1891, oldest operable engine at MCRR. Originally ran for SS&S in Virginia for 1891-1925, later at Argent Lumber Company in South Carolina for 1936-1960. Sold to MCRR, one the main engines for the 1960s to 1971, and 1988 to present.
