As a psychiatrist, I see many patients whose mental health is silently affected by excessive internet and smartphone use.
What begins as a habit often turns into addiction, impacting sleep, memory, concentration, emotions, and relationships.
Excessive screen time can lead to anxiety, irritability, depression, poor academic or work performance, and social withdrawal—especially in children and adolescents.
Smartphones are powerful tools, I strongly advise setting screen-time limits, avoiding mobile use before sleep, taking regular digital breaks, and engaging in real-life social and physical activities.
If you feel restless, anxious, or irritable without your phone, it may be time to seek professional help.
Early awareness and timely guidance can prevent long-term mental health issues.
Your mind needs rest, not constant notifications. Choose balance.
