I stood here at 4001m ASL.
Mount Satima, also known as Mount Lesatima is the third-highest mountain in Kenya and the highest peak in the Aberdare Range.
The first two kilometers ( approximately 1,3 miles ) are through scrubland, after which the trail emerges on the boggy wetland, which are protruded with imposing rock formations and is dotted with the Lobelia Keniensis. These is a specie that is endemic to the mountains of Tanzania and is native to the alpine zones of Kenya. The most imposing rock formation is known as ‘Dragon’s teeth’ (the teeth are sporadic spreads of jagged rocks) and is reached after 5 kilometers (3 miles). The trail runs through this rock formation, after which it is another 2 miles to the summit. If you ask me, the scenery and landscape is definitely out of this world.
The hike to Mount Satima Summit gets steeper and steeper which makes it challenging to walk. The air is thin and crisp, very cold with passing hailstorms. The mountain climbing path is narrow, so everyone has to walk forward in a row.
This video was filmed using the GoPro Hero12 Black. The video has not been edited ( no filters or sound adjustment. )
