In this episode of my Volvo 850R restoration series, I’m continuing the rebuild and reaching a huge milestone: the front end finally goes back together! This is one of the most satisfying stages of the project, as the car really starts to look complete again after the respray.
I’ll be installing the headlights and front bumper. To finish things off, I also repaint several moldings and trim strips, which makes a massive difference in how fresh and sharp the car looks. These small details are what truly elevate a restoration and give the 850R that proper finished, OEM-style appearance.
Seeing the front end come together after months of paint and prep is incredibly rewarding, and it finally feels like this classic turbo Volvo is becoming a car again instead of just a project.
