"Today we had the presentation of the organising cities and we were very pleased with the presentations. We had a presentation of Athens and the International Olympic Committee is extremely pleased by the preparations and we are very glad to see that the promises that were made to us by the organisers have been kept. You know that the IOC has repeatedly said that we believe that there was enough time to finish everything before the games, providing the organisers would show a sense of urgency and they've done that, and they have delivered in due time. So, you can imagine, that there is for us a great sense of satisfaction."

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacques Rogge, IOC president:
"All athletes that will participate in the games are athletes that will not have been found guilty for doping. We know that there is a question mark on certain athletes, but the disciplinary procedure of these athletes has not led to proof of guilt, and as long as there is no proof of guilt the athletes are eligible. Do I believe that these cases will tarnish the games? No. I believe the games are far too strong for that."

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacques Rogge, IOC president:
"You know that security has always been the number one priority of the International Olympic Committee since Munich (19)72. And the IOC has not awakened to the problem of security after 9/11. The IOC is very aware of that since Munich. It is sure that the world has entered into a new era, where security is a major concern and a bigger concern than it would be before. Interestingly enough, however, is to note that the procedures of security that is always organised by the host country have not drastically changed since earlier times."

"On the ticket sales, I do not have the latest figures, but what I know, and I have heard from ATHOC, is that the sales are going up day-by-day and that they are selling a lot of tickets every day, but I can't give you the overall figures. I am not concerned. All of my Greek friends have told me that there is a tradition in this country to buy the tickets at the last moment and that they expect the venues to be full."
