Last night we reflected on the command of Allah in Surah Al-Muddathir:
وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ
“For your Lord, be patient.”
Why does Allah command patience immediately after commanding the Prophet ﷺ to arise and warn?
Because when truth becomes public, it disturbs falsehood.
Truth does not coexist peacefully with corruption. It exposes it.
And when corruption is exposed, it reacts.
Allah says:
أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَنْ يُتْرَكُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ
“Do people think they will be left alone to say, ‘We believe,’ and they will not be tested?” (29:2)
The early believers in Makkah were not persecuted for private worship. They were persecuted because they spoke. They declared tawhid publicly. They challenged moral corruption. They threatened an unjust social order.
When truth rises, resistance rises.
This is not only history. Every believer has a Makkan phase.
When you commit to prayer, you face resistance.
When you leave haram, you face resistance.
When you speak ethically, you face resistance.
When you raise your children differently, you face resistance.
That resistance is not a sign of failure. It is a sign that iman is alive.
In this episode, we explore the meaning of sabr, the command to follow the example of أُولُو الْعَزْمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ, and why unity under pressure is essential:
وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا
The Ummah is not built by comfort. It is built by endurance.
Revelation builds people.
People build the Ummah.
