Synopsis:
Byomkesh and his sidekick Ajit come to Baghmari, a small town to investigate a case. A village chap named Amrito gets murdered one fine evening when he goes to the dense forest nearby to prove his bravery among his friends. After a few days, again, another native of the village Sadananda Sur is brutally killed when he enters his house after returning from a vacation. As Bakshi gets involved in the case he meets a number of influential people, moneylenders from the village personally. One of them is Bishwanath Mallik, the owner of a rice mill. He used to be a jockey earlier and has a huge storage of foreign arms. He hid his collection in one of the trunks of a Shimul tree in the forest. Amrito, the Village boy and Sadananda Sur accidentally got to know of this. So, to avoid any hassle in his path, he creates a booby trap and kills both of them. But he can’t fool Bakshi, the sleuth and finally gets arrested by the police.
