Welcome to the Everyday Heroes Podcast where we connect parents of autistic children with leading autism experts worldwide, giving you clarity, confidence, and practical guidance to help your child thrive.
Brad Williams is the founder and CEO of Williams Occupational Therapy (Williams OT) in Adelaide, supporting people to gain, regain, or maintain independence through driving, community mobility, and assistive technology.
He is a driver-trained occupational therapist, OT Driver Assessor and rehabilitation practitioner, and a qualified motor driving instructor.
Brad created Drive With Me, a parent-led coaching program designed to help families support young drivers with Autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergence through a staged pathway from readiness, to getting in the car, to driving into independence.
He is also a creator of the Drive-Able Podcast, and contributes to road safety and professional advocacy through national working groups.
In our conversation we spoke about:
▶️ What problem does Drive With Me solve that regular driving lessons often do not for autistic and neurodivergent learners?
▶️ What happens in each stage, and how do families know where they should start?
▶️ What do you teach parents to do differently in the car so it does not turn into conflict?
▶️ What are the most common hurdles you see? Things like anxiety, sensory overwhelm, slow processing, or emotional blow-ups, and what strategies help?
▶️ What outcomes do families usually notice first before a learner is fully independent, what are the early wins that show it is working?
Book in a free connection call to find out how Brad can assist you and your child.
