In this interview with The New Indian Express – Kerala, Guruvayur Temple Thanthri Chennas Dineshan Namboothiripad explained the reasons why legendary singer K J Yesudas was not allowed to sing at the temple. He said that Yesudas had not submitted any request to the Guruvayur Devaswom Board seeking permission to enter the temple premises.
“There is no need to invite a person who is not interested in visiting the temple,” the Thanthri said, adding that while he acknowledges Yesudas as a gifted and blessed singer, no formal request had been made for temple entry.
