As animals become increasingly exposed to powerful technologies such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, we have a growing responsibility to ensure that the interactive systems we design respond to their needs and wants. Animal-Computer Interaction (ACI) is a growing field concerned with the animal-centred study and design of interactive systems. In my presentation, based on work conducted over the years at The Open University’s ACI Lab, I will discuss the concepts, methods, ethics and politics underpinning the design of animal-centred technology for and with animals.
