Описание: Professor Andrew Briggs continued the Eugene P. Wigner Distinguished Lecture Series in Science, Technology and Policy on Tuesday, March 8. In his lecture, titled, "The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Curiosity," Briggs explored how curiosity about how the world works can lead to beneficial progress in technology and examined how curiosity about ultimate questions can create an environment conducive to scientific breakthroughs. He also discussed how this interplay can be found in quantum nanoscience, and drew comparisons to Eugene Wigner's own observations about the miracle of the effectiveness of mathematics.
