Описание: LES data visualisations using the Q-criterion for flow past a circular cylinder for Re =100. At this Re, the flow is in the 2D vortex-shedding regime, following the onset of periodic shedding around Re≈47 (via a Hopf bifurcation). The wake forms a classic von Kármán vortex street, with alternating vortices shed from the cylinder's upper and lower surfaces at a Strouhal number of 0.16-0.17. There's no significant spanwise (along the cylinder axis) disturbance because the wake remains essentially two-dimensional. The Q-criterion isosurfaces show clean, uniform roller-like structures extending straight in the spanwise direction, with no waviness or breakup. This is laminar vortex shedding, stable and predictable, without three-dimensional instabilities.
