Описание: LES data visualisations using the Q-criterion for flow past a circular cylinder for Re =4000. At Re = 4000, the flow is fully turbulent, with a broad spectrum of eddy scales. Small-scale structures dominate the near-wake due to Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities on the separating shear layers, while the far-wake shows disorganised, three-dimensional vortex interactions. The Q-criterion visualisation shows highly irregular, intertwined 3D structures, including tangled vortex tubes, loops, and fragments, spanning the domain with no apparent periodicity in the spanwise direction. This reflects the inertial subrange of turbulence, where energy is transferred from large to small scales, leading to dissipation. The Strouhal number broadens to a range of 0.2-0.22.
