Dalamadur... The biggest monster in the main series, absolutely gargantuan it's actually kind of crazy ; and despite his size, fits inside a 3DS game. And despite that, still incredibly beautiful and well animated.

Dalamadur is a real kick in the nuts the first time you come across in Monster Hunter ; the series is already known for having some of the best creature design and animations in the gaming industry. Something I love about Dalamadur is that it's pretty much the only monster in the series I can think of who has actual facial expressions.

Its face is so big and its jaw, "cheeks" and eyes are so well animated that it has a bunch of different faces and expressions it can make during the quest. It's so, so well made.

Of course after fighting Dalamadur many times one comes to the conclusion that the fight itself isn't the craziest thing in the world ; lots of scripted segments, he's very slow, easy to dodge for the most part. But I think that it's still one of the best giant monster fights we've ever gotten.

For people who started the series with Monster Hunter World ; this is the monster who is basically the origin of the Rotten Vale. One or two I believe deceased Dalamadur corpses make up a good portion of the map. There's also a theory that the inflammable rocks at the bottom of it are meteors Dalamadur is able to summon.

There's a lot of "grounded" Vs. "anime" talk in the community especially since the World and Rise discourse, but as much as the Portable team does like to bring the series up to new levels, I think the main team creating Dalamadur really puts all that talk to rest. There is no grounded or anime or whatever ; there's just Monster Hunter.

I made the Dalamadur render on the thumbnail myself, after a good photoshopping session on a Shah Dalamadur render.

I was so happy with sub 14 without a Relic Hammer and Heroics that I forgot to share my set in the end:
