The clash erupted on February 20 over a littering disagreement, with neighbors hurling insults like "momo" at the Northeastern women. One woman among the accused also labeled them "prostitutes" and claimed they operated a massage parlor, even provocatively suggesting, "Want to see how young my husband is? Step into the bedroom with him."

A video of the confrontation has now emerged online, amplifying public outrage. Following the victims' formal complaint, Delhi Police filed an FIR to investigate. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condemned the episode on social media, urging an end to discrimination against Northeast Indians.
