History of Just-in-Time (JIT)
Taiichi Ohno (a Toyota employee) of Japan is known as the father of Just In Time. He applied it in the Toyota manufacturing plants to meet consumer demands with minimum delays. Toyota understands that the Just In Time approach will only be successful if every person of Toyota is committed and involved in it and if plant and processes are arranged accordingly
What is Just-in-Time (JIT)?
Just-in-time or JIT is an inventory management system in which goods are received from suppliers only when they are required. In other words, It involves Purchasing the right quality and quantity of material at the right time (When needed). It requires long-term relations with reliable suppliers. The aim is to eliminate wastage and increase efficiency.
