The Centre has submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, stating that it will leave it to the Supreme Court to the "wisdom of the court" to make a decision on the petition to decriminalize homosexuality. Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said that that meant that they were not contesting, hinting that the Centre would be alright if the law against consensual same-sex relations were repealed.
