Mystery tech firm revealed: D-Wave Quantum Inc. to relocate HQ to Boca Raton

D-Wave Quantum Inc., a leading name in quantum computing, announced on Tuesday that it will relocate its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to the Boca Raton Innovation Campus, confirming details first outlined under the confidential name “Project Vernon.”

The move, set to be completed by the end of 2026, is a significant win for the city and promises to create high-paying technology jobs.

"To attract a worldwide leader, not number two, not number three but number one in quantum, the number one industry that the world is after and we landed the largest, really really cements Palm Beach County's opportunity going forward," said Kelly Smallridge, President and CEO, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.

Earlier this month, city leaders discussed offering D-Wave up to $500,000 in local incentives to make Boca Raton its new home. This performance-based agreement requires the creation of at least 100 full-time jobs, each with an average salary of at least $125,000, ensuring that the investment is tied to tangible results.
