Any and all the hyperbolic comments/phrases/articles etc. you've read about this trail. They're all true. This trail is as good as it gets for the most part. While it is a very well known trail - doing it the first week of Oct. proved to be a very good decision. Not only did we have flawless weather, but the nights were cooler, there was very little people out here; and fall was in full force!
I can't say enough good things about this trail. While I'm sure summer is great here too, a part of me thinks early October, truly might be the best time to be here. If for no other reason then...NO WY MOSQUITOES IN OCT!
We only had one negative situation this entire trip. Upon completing it and descending back to in-town elevations, there was an immense amount of wildfire smoke. It blanketed the area. So I couldn't get the cool - out of park drone footage I was hoping for and on foot air quality was horrid for the last 2-3 miles. That said, this was a very minimal price to pay for all the greatness we did get. Enjoy!
