Some background, the proposal in question is a large mixed-use scheme on 1.1 hectares on North Wall Quay Dublin 1, the proposal included 3 blocks ranging from 8 to 45 stories, Johnny Ronan company submitted a planning application via the Government’s Strategic Housing Development (SHD) “fast-track” planning process, was submitted for a total of 1,005 apartments.
I am not using this video to discuss this development, it was just the catalyst to the video. I want to ask is Dublin ready for high rise development.

I am going to focus on the pros and cons of building up, mainly answering the concerns raised from tiktoc, but if you are against building up stick with me and let me know your views in the comments.

Before we start, some background on me so you know where I am coming from. I have a degree in property economics, I am a chartered surveyor with 17 years’ experience and last year I completed a course on urban development from HarvardX.

You are welcome to disagree with my views but I think it is important to know where I am coming from.

Urban development and building up is something that I could talk about for hours, but this is youtube so I want to keep it short, I will likely leave out loads of info and not go into huge details and I could make videos on each one of the next few topics.
