Описание: In the late 1950s, a brand new airport was being designed for the Washington D.C. area. But it was not going to be any airport. This one was different. Why? Because it was the first airport designed soley for jet aircraft.

Along with this new airport, a new transportation system was developed. The new airport, called Dulles, was to have a fleet of "mobile lounges" that would whisk passengers from their terminal onto the plane. It was supposed to be a luxury experience. It was going to be the future of all subsequent airports. Dulles was also designed by the noted Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, along with Charles and Ray Eames.

Well, the future did not turn out as planned.

And finally...these vehicles look like they may have been the inspiration for the Star Wars Sandcrawler!
