ONE DESPERATE AUTO LIFTER ARRESTED BY THE TEAM OF PS KASHMERE GATE
• 03 STOLEN THREE-WHEELERS RECOVERED.
• THE ACCUSED USED TO TARGET ONLY THREE-WHEELERS AND FURTHER SOLD THE STOLEN TSRs AFTER DISMANTLING OR MODIFYING IT.
• THE ACCUSED WAS COMMITTING CRIME FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS AND PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN 12 CASES OF MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS ETC.
• TOTAL 03 CASES OF MVT SOLVED.
INCIDENT:
On 21.01.2026 an online e-FIR No. 01691/26 u/s 305(B) BNS was got registered at PS Kashmiri Gate by complainant Shri Harvir Singh, R/o Karawal Nagar, Delhi. The complainant reported that on 19.01.2026 during noon hours, he had come to Nigam Bodh Ghat in his auto-rickshaw bearing No. DL1RAA6103 to attend a cremation. He parked his auto-rickshaw in the parking of Nigam Bodh Ghat. After few minutes, when he returned, his auto-rickshaw was found stolen from there.
TEAM & INVESTIGATION:
A dedicated team led by SI Umesh Kumar Sharma comprising ASI Dipender, HC Rajeev, HC Sonu Rana, Ct Sachin Rana, Ct Ajeet, Ct Mahesh Kumar was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Prashant Yadav, SHO/PS Kashmere Gate and guidance of Sh. Shankar Banarjee, ACP/Sub-Division Kotwali, Delhi to nab the culprit and recover the stolen auto-rickshaw.
During investigation, the team analysed the footages of CCTV cameras installed at the place of incident and the vicinity. With the help of ANPR cameras, the location of the stolen auto-rickshaw was tracked in the area of Dilshad Garden. Further, more than 100 CCTV cameras installed on the probable routes taken by the culprit were checked and finally with the help of secret sources, a suspected person Mohd. Afzal, r/o Trilok Puri, Delhi was zeroed in. Then, the police team collected local intelligence in which it was revealed that suspect Mohd. Afzal was actively engaged in the theft of auto-rickshaws.
In the late evening of 29.01.26, a secret information was received that suspect Mohd. Afzal would come near ISBT, Kashmere Gate, Delhi in the stolen auto-rickshaw. The police team immediately rushed the place of information and laid strategic trap on Ring Road near Kela Ghat crossing, Kashmere Gate and one person identified as Mohd. Afzal, age 50 years, R/o Trilok Puri, Delhi was apprehended along-with a three-wheeler stolen in the above case.
INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, accused Mohd. Afzal confessed to have stolen the above auto-rickshaw from the parking of Nigam Bodh Ghat. He also disclosed that he is an auto-driver for the last 30 years. To earn easy money, he started stealing auto-rickshaws from different areas of Delhi. He used to carry a T-shape tool to break the lock of the auto-rickshaw. He is also a good mechanic of auto-rickshaw, so after stealing the auto-rickshaw, he used to sell the spare parts after dismantling the auto-rickshaw. On verification of his previous antecedents, he was found involved in 12 cases of auto-lifting etc. of different police stations of Delhi. At his instance, two more auto-rickshaws were recovered from near Saleem Garh Park, Red Fort and near Gujjar Bhawan Kotla East, Delhi which were found stolen in case e-FIR No. 00817/26 dated 10.01.26 u/s 305(B) BNS PS Seema Puri, Delhi and case e-FIR No. 02125/26 dated 28.01.26 u/s 305(B) PS Kamla Market, Delhi.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSON:
Mohd. Afzal, age 50 years, R/o Trilok puri, Delhi has studied upto 12th standard and also addicted to alcohol. He was working as an auto driver in Delhi for the last 30 years. He was unable to earn sufficient money by driving auto-rickshaw to fulfill his basic needs, so he started stealing vehicles. To earn easy money, he started stealing auto-rickshaws from different areas of Delhi. He is also a good mechanic of auto-rickshaw, so after stealing the auto-rickshaw, he used to sell the spare parts after dismantling the auto-rickshaw. On verification of his previous antecedents, he was found involved in 12 cases of motor vehicle thefts etc. of different police stations of Delhi.
RECOVERY:
• 03 stolen three-wheelers (Auto-Rickshaws).
