Delhi Police has arrested a notorious thief who, while cutting hair, gradually began cutting the shutters of jewellery showrooms, and it would not be wrong to say that he became one of the biggest names in jewellery theft. According to information received, this man has stolen jewellery worth around ₹45 crore, and just a few years ago he was merely working in a small hair salon, cutting people’s hair. What is even more shocking is that as many as 25 criminal cases are registered against this lone individual. From Chandni Chowk in Delhi to Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, police forces of several states were searching for this single accused.
The criminal journey of Lokesh Srivas alias Golu began in the year 2006 from Chhattisgarh, where he initially committed small thefts in closed shops and houses and gradually became skilled in breaking shutters to carry out burglaries. After 2012, he carried out a series of thefts across several districts of Chhattisgarh, stealing property worth lakhs of rupees. Between 2017 and 2020, he committed similar crimes in Odisha as well, establishing his identity as an inter-state thief. In 2021 and 2022, he targeted jewellery shops and closed establishments in Andhra Pradesh, while in 2023, after a jewellery showroom theft involving crores of rupees in Delhi, his name became known nationwide. After committing thefts in several commercial areas of Delhi, including Chandni Chowk, and upon being released from jail during 2025–26, he carried out burglaries in multiple shops within just a few hours. Police investigations reveal that over the last five years alone, he has stolen jewellery worth nearly ₹45 crore. Working alone, conducting reconnaissance in advance, breaking shutters at night to execute quick thefts, and immediately changing states were his distinctive methods. However, due to consistent crime patterns, technical surveillance and sustained manual monitoring, the Crime Branch finally arrested him from Delhi.
The most surprising aspect was that whenever he went out to commit a theft, the accused Lokesh Srivas alias Golu always operated alone. No accomplice, no noise. A small bag slung over his shoulder and a strange confidence in his eyes. Locks did not frighten him; they challenged him. How his journey that began with hair-cutting scissors reached iron shutters and strong vaults—perhaps even he does not remember.
Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi—every state was just another territory for him. As night fell, he would look at shops the way a hunter looks at his prey. The ₹25 crore jewellery theft at a shop in Hazrat Nizamuddin in 2023 gave him a different status in the world of crime. Thirty kilograms of gold, a few minutes of silence, and by morning, chaos everywhere.
But every thief makes a mistake.
After coming out of Bilaspur Jail in January 2026, Golu began to consider himself invincible. Three shops burgled in a single night—without stopping, without fear. He believed he would once again disappear into the crowds of Delhi. But this time, his shadow had already been traced.
The Crime Branch team was quietly following him—tracking mobile signals, studying old patterns and maintaining constant surveillance. On the night Golu was planning his next hideout, the door opened. No shutter was broken, no lock was cut—this time, the trap was laid for him.
Even while being handcuffed, there was no regret on his face, just a cold smile, as if to say, “The game isn’t over, it’s just paused.”
More than ₹45 crore stolen in the last five years, over 25 criminal cases, and a man who called theft his hobby—now behind bars. Outside, the city was sleeping again, but this time, in peace.
