In northern Uganda, climate change is intensifying drought, land degradation and food insecurity especially for farming communities and refugee-hosting areas. To respond, the Moyo District Farmers’ Association is promoting nature-based climate adaptation that restores ecosystems while strengthening livelihoods.
Supported by the UNDP-Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA), MDFA is training extension workers and farmers to use a mobile app that delivers tailored climate-smart solutions. The initiative combines farmer-managed natural regeneration with practical guidance on mulching, water conservation, and drought-tolerant crops. It is helping farmers grow food more reliably, reduce conflict over resources and build resilience through cooperation and local knowledge.
