Cascade is an adult female Grey-Heaed Flying-Fox who was found on the road and helped off the road into a little garden area with a stick.
The members of public protected her with a milk crate and a row of bins around her and a big sign to say keep away and keep your dogs away.
Like most bats found on the road, she's hit her head somewhere during her little mishap, and is a little cranky and then a little quiet.
She did well in care, spending a few days recovering her equilibrium, and she will be released in the next round of females in the release aviary.
It's breeding season at the moment and the boys harass the girls if they're in a captive situation. We do separate release rounds at this time of the year.
We also never have a ratio of more than one boy to 4-5 girls in the release aviary during any release round, even outside of breeding season.
