The Zug Bug was one of the first nymphs I ever learned to tie when I was 14 years old. Some might say my fly tying skills haven't improved much since then, but that's okay. You don't have to be a great tier to tie flies that catch fish, and decades later, the Zug Bug still catches fish!
Here's the list of materials used in this video to tie the Zug Bug:
Hook: 2xl Nymph hook, the Daiichi 1710, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/col...
Thread: Semperfli 12/0 Black, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Ribbing: Small Silver Mylar Tinsel, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Tail: Peacock sword, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Body: Peacock herl, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Legs/Hackle: Brown Hen Saddle, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Wing Pad: Natural Mallard Duck Flank, https://precisionflyandtackle.com/pro...
Thank you for watching and hope you enjoyed this classic fly pattern!
