This may be no fat cat - but it is an expensive one. This Ashera cat sells for as much as 28-thousand dollars in the United States.
SOT: Ryan Oylear, Ashera handler: "They're definitely above domestic cats in that they are much larger, they are much higher energy, they like to be up high. You could say that for most cats but these guys prefer it."
SOT: Alexis Rodriguez, Lifestyle Pets spokesperson:"Due to the mix of two exotic breeds it may need the assistance of a behavioral specialist, just because it may become a little too hyper."
They're also larger - standing four feet high on their hind legs. They live a bit longer than the average house cat too; up to 25 years. And if you're willing to pony up the cash, there is even a hypoallergenic version for folks allergic to felines.
Despite its rambunctious reputation, this woman hopes the Ashera fits in with her Beverly Hills family:
SOT: Jo Cachia, Ashera cat owner. "We're hoping that he is socialized enough with our playfulness and our kids playing with him that he won't get too wild. And that he'll be controllable and beautiful."
Lifestyle Pets of California expects to sell 50 of these big, exotic kitties a year.
