Night shifts are essential part of providing care for our patients; through this video we are going to share with you few tips for a productive and healthy night shift:
1. Get plenty of sleep before the shift.
2. Few minutes of exercise before the shift will enhance your cognitive abilities and your overall energy levels.
3. Make sure to take all your personal items before going to the hospital.
4. Eat snacks regularly and avoid heavy meals.
5. Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water and avoid sugary sodas.
6. Ask for help from the seniors on call when needed.
7. Caffeine may help you to be alert during the shift but avoid excessive consumption.
8. A conversation with your team members or your patients who are awake could be a good idea.
9. Take short naps whenever possible.
10. Listening to music in free time may increase concentration and productivity.
11. Avoid excessive alertness at the end of the shift so you can have a good sleep at home.
12. Take care while driving home after the shift.
