We launch our new #soundbites series Small Answers to Small Questions with one of the great conundrums of the film universe: Why is Michael Bay's blowing-stuff-up epic Armageddon included in the Criterion Collection, a harbor of classics, foreign films, and art flicks for the last several decades? To answer that, we'll be stepping back in time to both the 80's and the '90s, peering at outdated DVD menus and Best Buy news footage, and catching a special appearance by the Beastie Boys (all four seconds of it).
