I like, therefore I am. Are we defined by what we like? Or a better question, do we WANT to be defined by our likes. In this video I talk about taste as a social identity, as well as Cinephilia as a status. As a society we believe our taste says a lot about who we are as a person, so as a way to express ourselves we share what we like and also curate how we want to be perceived.
Watching movies is one thing, but film is another...or is it? Can you be seen as a cinephile just off the back of knowing all Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow films by heart, or do you need to sprinkle a bit of Kubrick into the mix? Whoooo knows? In the video I talk about it and hopefully make you think as well.
